In same manner, any industry generating, storing, disposing and handling of any hazardous waste is required to procure authorization from the MPCB. The MPC board is a major regulator for implementation of environmental laws and pollution control in the state.
It is entitled with the activity to enforce various laws, rules, regulations pertaining to prevention and control of pollution. Once the industry is established within the required pollution control systems, the owner of the industry is required to obtain the consent to run the unit. MPCB gives this consent for a particular period of time and this certificate needs to be renewed regularly after a certain period of time. The notification for the charges related to the issuance of the certificate is issued by the board in a particular format, depending upon the investment made by the investor.
The role of the board also extends to management of bio-medical waste, chemicals, electronic wastes and other aspects related to pollution.
