What is fire clearance

Fire clearance is a certificate issued by the fire department of particular states after checking the building’s security against fire and verifying the machinery installed for fire safety. Each state authority has relevant guidelines for this purpose and it is mandatory to obtain a fire NOC from the fire department to ensure adherence to the policies. As per Maharashtra fire prevention and life safety measures act, any person holding construction of more than fifteen meters in height for business or commercial plans must have a fire no objection certificate.

In each type of industry ,either small, medium or heavy which uses hazardous chemicals for its operations or which makes use of materials which is fire prone, there is always a chance that fire may hamper their production activities. Hence, following the rules and norms laid down by fire department becomes unavoidable. A fire safety certificate is an assurance that the building is safe from fire and adequate escape facilities are present in the building. The no objection certificate issued by the department is valid for one year and has to be renewed every year.
